My goal with this painting was to capture inner strength and self-esteem in a child. I decided to depict a little girl’s love for her horse and pride in who she is. Most artists paint with stories in mind and I’m no different. My imagined story for this painting was of a little girl who loves her palomino so much that she wears yellow clothes to match its coat and she braids its mane to match her own beautiful hair. Most days you’ll find her hanging out at the barn tending to her furry friend. When she rides out with other horse lovers, she’s proud of her mount and who she is. If only all children could grow up never having to feel ashamed for being who they are.
