Change is the natural way of the world. It’s inevitable, and the best we can do is accept it, embrace it, and adapt to it.
Embrace Change shows two natural changes. The stages of a pumpkin’s growth are shown from left to right. Starting with the flower, then the bloom after pollination, a small pumpkin on the vine, and finally a full, ripe pumpkin ready for picking.
The other change is the transformation of the butterflies, shown from right to left. There are to caterpillars on the right, a chrysalis on the ”a” in Change, a fresh butterfly emerging from its chrysalis on the ”C” in Change, and finally a fully-fledged butterfly on the pumpkin flower at the far left.
This picture has a special place in my heart because it’s the first picture I made after discovering art quilting. The original is a quiltless quilt. It’s made from fused appliqué fabric with a batting and backing, so it has all the components necessary to be considered an official quilt, except…it has no stitching. I had not yet purchased a sewing machine.
